Summary of Changes to Questions Sets - Second Quarter 2010

We would like to notify you of changes that have been made to the ComplyTrack Risk Assessment questions in the Comprehensive Library for the Provider Baseline. As part of the Quarterly Review Process, the following Risk Assessments were reviewed this quarter:

  • Ambulance Services
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center
  • Clinical Research
  • Corporate Responsibility
  • Department of Psychiatry
  • Emergency Department
  • HIPAA - Privacy
  • HIPAA - Security
  • Human Resources
  • Information Systems
  • Medical Records

These revised question sets are now available to you in the MediRegs Master Library. The revised question sets are denoted with "2010" in the title. For example, the most recent version of the "Ambulance" question set is called "Ambulance Services - 2010". In order to add these revised Question Sets to your local library, please follow the instructions here under Question Manager, MediRegs Master Library, Adding Question Sets.

Summary of Changes to Specific Question Sets

Ambulance Services

This question set was revised last fall, so there were not many changes. Some of the questions were reordered; there were some minor language changes; and five questions were added.

Ambulatory SurgeryCenter

This question set is being withdrawn because it was largely duplicative of questions in the Conditions of Participation and Compliance Program Guidance Question Sets.

Clinical Research

This question set had a substantive overhaul. Many additional questions were added that deal with the federal management aspect of grants for clinical research projects.

Corporate Responsibility

This question set had a substantive overhaul. Many questions with "Best Practice" citations were removed. Questions were added based upon the guidance provided by the OIG in the document titled "Corporate Responsibility And Corporate Compliance: A Resource for Health Care Boards of Directors".

Department of Psychiatry

This question set was revised and several questions were added. It previously contained 55 questions and now contains 70.

Emergency Department

This question set was revised last fall, so there were not many changes. Some minor changes were made and five questions were added.

 HIPAA - Privacy and Security

After ARRA/HITECH was passed, the HIPAA area had lots of changes and MediRegs kept up with those changes throughout the year, modifying these question sets as regulations were issued. As a result, there were very few changes to these question sets this quarter.

Human Resources

After much consideration, we have decided we will reserve updating this question set until we have the assistance of a healthcare Human Resources expert. We will roll out a revised version once we have this additional expert input.

Information Systems

This question set was augmented significantly and to more appropriately reflect its scope it will now be called "Information Technology". The question set previously contained 51 questions, many of which had "best practice" citations. The revised question set contains over 100 questions and is much more comprehensive in scope. The question set relies heavily on the Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT) standards and documents from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Medical Records

This question set is being withdrawn because it was largely duplicative of questions in the Conditions of Participation and Compliance Program Guidance Question Sets.
