Click Here to view a replay of the How to Avoid Penalties by Understanding and Reducing Your Hospital Readmission Rates webinar. The CMS readmission penalty is up to 1% of all Medicare IPPS payments in FFY 2013 climbing to 3% in 2015. Hospitals with higher readmission performance as compared to expected readmissions will face millions in lost payments. Effective methodologies for compliance and for reducing readmissions can be unique to each hospital and requires comprehensive, long term collaboration between physicians, hospital quality departments, and hospital executives. This session will focus on new innovative analytic methods for reducing readmissions:

  • Understanding differences between any hospital readmissions and all hospital readmissions.
  • Using data to identify Potentially Preventable Readmissions. Without identified statewide data hospitals will underestimate their readmissions performance if they focus solely on internally available data. The webinar will explain how hospitals can obtain all hospital readmissions to understand the full scope of avoiding a readmission penalty.
  • Use cases and examples of hospitals that have engaged in retrospective analyses and initiatives to achieve improvements in their hospital readmissions rates.
