We have renamed the “Code Lookup” tool to reflect its new capabilities.  Use our new tool to do far more than just find codes; explore coding, payment, coverage and compliance issues with a single inquiry.  The new name is Code Explorer, and there are actually 2 versions of Code Explorer.  Read below to understand the differences and determine where to find the tool on each Regulation & Reimbursement or Coding Suite product.

SIMPLE Code Explorer

Maps search terms to HCPCS, CPT and ICD-9-CM codes with a display of Outpatient and Physician Status Codes for each applicable HCPCS and CPT Code.

  • Regulation & Reimbursement Suite (RRS): Click on the link on the left side of the CODING tab.
  • Coder Resource Center: Search box in the top navigation bar.
  • Coding & Revenue Resource Center (CRRC) and Audit & Revenue Resource Center(ARRC): Click on Simple Code Explorer link on the left-hand navigation pane.

Advanced Code Explorer

Expands from info available in the simple tool to also include on-screen APC code and Payment, RVU Payment, Code notes, and instant search links to explore Codebook, Transmittals, LCDs and Coding Guidance which includes MUEs, IOCE edits, PQRI Edits, RAC flags and much more.

  • In CRRC and ARRC: Search box in the top navigation bar.
  • Not available in RRS and CoderRC.
