MediRegs and Boerner Consulting to Provide Compliance Program Effectiveness Evaluation System
Wellesley Hills, Mass. (April 12, 2007) — MediRegs announced today its alliance with Boerner Consulting, LLC to provide COMPASS, a compliance program effectiveness assessment integrated with the full functionality of ComplyTrack™ Risk Assessment Manager. This combination of services will enable compliance officers, internal auditors, CFOs and boards to do a guided self-assessment optionally bundled with a complete external validation. The offering reflects the oversight and monitoring being required of Boards to measure compliance program effectiveness.
Cathy Boerner, J.D., President of Boerner Consulting, LLC, has been performing compliance effectiveness reviews since 1998. Working with MediRegs, she has automated her proven approach to provide a cost effective instrument for compliance officers to review program effectiveness themselves. It enables the compliance officer to examine outcomes as well as assess the underlying structure and process of each compliance program element.
“Our existing risk assessment controls library spans healthcare and general risk areas but did not provide the critical requirement of an analytical tool for a comprehensive review of the compliance program itself,” says Steve Lefar, president of MediRegs. “COMPASS applies to every kind of organization and will help them provide a transparent, rigorous analysis of their compliance program to their board and other constituents.”
A key feature to COMPASS is integrated, configurable risk and impact rating to help focus remediation efforts. Clients will also be able to join into a benchmarking program at their option to monitor progress over time. The system produces Board summary reports, a comprehensive work plan and allows organizations to perform employee culture surveys. It does not replace external validation provided by leading consulting and law firms but augments these efforts by automating the assessment, process flow and data collection so the focus can be on interpretation, remediation and work planning.
“My organization was an early user of the MediRegs ComplyTrack™ software suite and engaged Boerner Consulting to perform our effectiveness review using COMPASS”, remarks Ken Purvis, compliance officer for Rush Health System. “The combination of MediRegs’ recently upgraded ComplyTrack™ 4.0 software and Boerner Consulting’s COMPASS scoring system will provide a cohesive mechanism for benchmarking and managing our compliance programs.”
The COMPASS effectiveness review tool is available now.
